About Us

Linen with vestiges

Vestigias is Latin for "traces." We chose the name deliberately. We believe in clothes that carry traces — of the maker, of the wearer, of the years they're worn. Not clothes that pretend to be new forever.

How we started

Vestigias began with a small question we couldn't shake: why do we so rarely keep clothes for more than a season? The honest answer, for us, was twofold — synthetic fabrics that wear out, and silhouettes too tied to a moment to outlast it.

So we gave ourselves a brief. Work in one cloth — European-grown flax linen, the kind that has been used in the West for centuries and that becomes better with each wash. Cut it into shapes that don't perform for a particular season. Finish it carefully, in small runs, so each piece has a hand to it.

What we make

For now, linen midi dresses. Five silhouettes to start: a sleeveless square-neck A-line, a wrap with a self-tie waist, a slim long-sleeve column, a 1920s-leaning drop-waist tiered piece, and a boatneck shift. Each cut to be worn alone or layered, at home or out, across seasons rather than within one.

Every dress is woven from European flax — primarily from Belgium and Northern France, where flax has been a regional crop for generations. The cloth is garment-washed for softness, then cut and finished in small batches. Buttons are self-covered. Hems are weighted naturally rather than over-pressed flat. Where the cloth has slubs, we don't hide them. Where a reactive dye pulls deeper into the thicker yarns, we don't even it out. These are the vestiges of an honest making process; they're the point.

Who we are

Vestigias is operated by BOYUECHENG, a small parent company registered in USA . We work with European linen mills and finishing partners to produce small runs each season, then dispatch from a UK fulfillment partner in Sheffield to keep delivery times tight for our UK customers and consistent for the rest of Europe.

We are a small studio. There is no warehouse full of unsold stock; when a size in a particular run sells out, it's gone until the next one.

How we work, plainly

  • Small runs. A limited quantity of each style per season, then we move on. Restocks happen rarely, and only when the cloth and the fit are right.
  • European flax, traceable mills. Sourced from registered European-flax growers and woven in EU mills using low-impact reactive dyes rather than surface prints.
  • Honest pricing. Our prices reflect cloth quality and small-batch finishing. We don't run permanent sales to make full price feel like a markdown.
  • Considered photography. The slubs, the tonal variation from reactive dye, the natural creasing — these are the cloth, not flaws to retouch out.
  • No models on product pages. Our garments are photographed on invisible forms and in still-life settings so what you see is what you receive.
